PRESS RELEASE: COMMUTE TO/FROM WORK SERVICE – NOVEMBER 28, 2022
The City Transit Fixed/Deviated Pilot Program route was cancelled effective November 1, 2022, due to lack of ridership. The pilot program was provided for a 3-month period to see if riders would utilize the service provided at each designated location. An average of 3 rides per day were used for the program that did not justify extending or implementing the program permanently.
In order to best serve the community, City Transit will offer a “Commute To/From Work” service to the general public in Chadron. Winter weather is upon us which brings extreme cold, as well as slippery streets. For those who normally walk to work might want to “catch a ride” on the City Transit and keep warm and safe. Gas prices are beginning to rise so this is a great opportunity to save on gas. Not comfortable in driving in snow and other road conditions? Let the City Transit help you out!
There are several options for individuals to consider riding the City Transit Bus for work.
First, rider can pay $1 one-way (each time you step on the bus) OR $20 PASS for 22 rides. The PASS which is the best option for a “commuter” allows you 22 rides in a month. This will allow you to be picked up from home, go to work, and return home (or grocery store on the way home) for basically $1 a day.
If you are interested in utilizing the “Commute To/From Work” service, the rider is required to schedule ride(s) at least a day in advance so we can accommodate everyone’s work schedule.
A rider can also schedule for a month in advance. The hours of operation will be morning commute 7 am – 9 am AND evening commute 4 pm – 6 pm, Monday through Friday.
CONTACT 308-432-0520 TO SCHEDULE A RIDE.
Rides can be scheduled for month in advance or longer. The DEMAND service remains the same running 8 am – 4 pm Monday through Friday.
